2nd lecture of the series "The history of man" with Bernard L. Gatinot, biologist-primatologist and specialist in palaeo-ethology of Colobes monkeys
Exclusive bipedalism is a specific character of Man in the order of the Primates. He is the only representative of this group to stand permanently, to walk and to run on both feet over great distances. This bipedalism requires a highly integrated set of anatomical, structural and functional traits that develop during embryogenesis. Various more or less credible and documented theories have been proposed to explain how our lineage has been able to acquire an exclusive and permanent bipedalism. They will be presented and discussed during the presentation.
