The blues only entered Europe in the late 1950s, and with the first American Folk Blues Festival, 1962, interest in African American music suddenly increased. British blues in full swing with groups such as Bluesbreakers by John Mayall, The Animals, Them and, above all, The Rolling Stones also inspired blues musicians on the European continent. France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Italy and the Scandinavian countries have endured their blues artists.
