Laura Fusco is an Italian poet and director.
Accustomed to writing since she was 13, she is considered to be the heir of the Bards and is one of the most original and visionary voices of contemporary oral poetry. Her texts, translated in many European countries and in the United States, are interpreted by her in a permanent dialogue with dance, music, painting, visual arts and video performance. Strongly convinced of the power inherent in the Word, she supports with Amnesty International the fight for the defense of the rights of women and victims of conflicts.
Author of several poetic collections, including Aqua Nuda from 2011 or La pesatrice di perle from 2015, with a preface by Maurizio Cucchi, she published Limbo in 2018 for the publisher Unicité
in the bilingual Italian / French version and translated in England under the title Liminal. The English version, which will be released in April 2020 by the publisher Smokestack Books and which will be distributed in the United States and Australia, recently won the prestigious PEN Translates awards.
