Bernhard Schlink, born near Bielefeld in 1944, is a lawyer and lives in Berlin and New York. He has notably published the novel "Der Vorleser" (Le Liseur), published in 1995 and translated into more than 50 languages. It was adapted for film with Hollywood actors Kate Winslet and Ralph Fiennes. His most recent publication is the collection of stories “Abschiedsfarben” (Farewell Colors).
