The company Independent Little Lies, in collaboration with the Biergerbühn, presents the Dürrenmatt classic The Visit of the Old Lady on the stage of the Escher Theater. The content of the play is topical and political: a woman uses her own story of suffering to expose structural inequalities and fight patriarchy with her own weapons! Claire Zachanassian returns to her poor hometown of Güllen after more than forty years. As a young girl, she falls in love with Alfred Ill. But the happiness of their relationship only lasted until Claire got pregnant. Alfred shirked all responsibility and put Claire to shame in front of the village community. She had to go - he stayed. How does he react to the reunion with the now influential Claire? What happens to a village community if it is offered a billion for the death of a fellow citizen?
