In the 1980s, Ettore Sottsass – a major figure in Italian design and founder of the Memphis group – began a unique collaboration with the master glassmakers of Murano. From this encounter emerged a series of sculptural vases that embody both Venetian artisanal tradition and the radical audacity of postmodern design.
The MEMPHIS GLASS COLLECTIBLES exhibition presents one of the largest collections of Ettore Sottsass vases on display in Luxembourg. This exceptional gathering of original pieces offers a rare overview of the creativity of the Memphis movement and the unique combination of formal experimentation and masterful craftsmanship.
Through this exhibition, the public is invited to rediscover the poetic, sometimes ironic, spirit of this foundational moment in contemporary design — a still-living dialogue between color, matter and thought.
