This concert offers an original encounter between the softness of the harp and the power of brass, a rarely heard combination. The program features three works, all specifically written for this instrumental combination. Jan Koetsier's two works are inspired by themes from Bedřich Smetana's cycle "Ma Vlast": one explores the famous melody of "The Moldau", while the other is based on the "Vyšehrad" theme. In "Music for Scrimshaws", William Schmidt evokes the art of sailors engraving scenes on ivory, developed in three movements.
