Regular Guided Tour: Viaggio in Italia
The exhibition takes visitors on a journey to explore iconic cities and regions of Italy. Over a span of four centuries and through Italian, Dutch, French, and British painters, it showcases idealized antique landscapes, numerous vedute, as well as scenes of everyday urban life. The paintings are united by their southern luminosity, architectural elegance, landscape charm, and notable references to Antiquity.
In addition to views of the five mentioned cities, there are 'capricci,' imaginative compositions depicting antique ruins in bucolic settings. Highlights include the Roman plazas by Gaspar van Wittel (1652-1736), Canaletto's view of Venice (1697-1768), and the industrial city of Milan as seen by futurist Umberto Boccioni (1882-1916). At the conclusion of the exhibition, visitors of all ages can create their own capriccio using digital collage. A painting corner and a quiz complement the offer for families with children.
