With Mascarades, Betty Tchomanga delivers a powerful and inhabited solo, inspired by the mystical figure of Mami Wata, an aquatic deity, a hybrid mermaid, a symbol of power, sensuality, and ambiguity. On stage, a single gesture—the jump—is repeated with intensity. This vertical movement, both simple and vibrant, becomes the driving force of a continuous metamorphosis. The body becomes a projection surface, a shock wave, a silent scream. An embodied ritual, physical and poetic. A body in resistance. A body in the making.
