Eschenliebe tells the unusual love story of a man and a tree. A story in which the protagonist boldly claims that this love requires rewriting the chapter of sexuality. On a summer night, he talks himself into a drunken state that gradually shifts into despair as dry leaves from his beloved "Ash" fall down on him. The renowned Freiburg playwright Theresia Walser writes a role specifically tailored to the Luxembourg actor Steve Karier. A small one-person relationship comedy, or perhaps an environmental farce in times of climate change? How do we actually perceive our natural environment? What kind of relationship shapes an individual’s connection to the nature surrounding them? In the park or in their own garden? And above all: why are love stories between humans and trees so rare?
