European Heritage Days
This year, the Days are held under the theme "Heritage and Architecture: Windows on the Past, Doors on the Future," a theme that invites visitors to discover the richness and diversity of the architectural landscape that shapes Europe's cultural identity. This Council of Europe initiative has played a key role in recognizing architectural heritage as an essential factor in quality of life and strengthening preservation efforts across Europe.
The theme "Architectural Heritage" highlights the artistic and technical achievements of architecture, from the majestic monuments of great cities to the vernacular buildings of the countryside. It emphasizes that architecture goes beyond its purely utilitarian function to become a powerful symbol of local and national history.
This year we want to raise awareness among a wide audience about architectural heritage and various awareness-raising events and projects are possible: discoveries and guided tours of buildings or historic sites, as well as museum collections, workshops, conferences, demonstrations of know-how or introductions to heritage trades and techniques, projects relating to new technologies, concerts or any other event linked to heritage.
