Four elderly gentlemen have had enough of being told by others what is best for them and decide to establish an autonomous residential community.
But that's easier said than done, because there's a lack of money, and all those who thought they had a stake in the matter either haven't been there for a long time, or they don't really remember them, or they're too clumsy and twisted to contribute anything. And then there are their children, who are either making a living because they can't make ends meet themselves, are against their elderly parents' new relationships, or are bringing an old household to ruin. But in the meantime, Nuckes, as an old 68 protester, never tires of sticking to the common plan. He just has it in his heart, but even that doesn't make him turn away from it, and so his three colleagues continue to pull along on the often bumpy and long road to autonomy.
