Torchlight procession, concerts and fireworks
The festivities surrounding the Grand Duke's birthday will begin on the eve of the national holiday on Sunday, June 22, 2025. The capital will vibrate to the rhythm of the festivities, with the traditional changing of the guard in front of the Grand Ducal Palace at 4:00 p.m., the torchlight procession (Fakelzuch), numerous concerts in various squares of the capital, the City Sounds festival on the Champ du Glacis, and a fireworks display to close the evening.

To ensure the Fakelzuch runs smoothly, the procession with some 2,500 participants will form at 8:00 p.m. on the Place du Théâtre / Côte d'Eich.
At 9:30 p.m., the reception of Their Highnesses the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess and the Grand Ducal family will take place at Place Guillaume II (at the level of the monument) by the mayor, Mrs. Lydie Polfer, and the first alderman, Mr. Maurice Bauer, to be led to the grandstand installed in front of the Town Hall.
The fireworks display in honor of the Grand Duke will be launched from the Adolphe Bridge and will light up the sky at 11:00 p.m. for 17 minutes. The fireworks will be accompanied by a musical composition by Maxime Bender.
Concerts and events in the city center:
