In Beninese tradition, dance, music, and voice are inextricably linked and in continuous dialogue. They merge into a single language that is constantly evolving.

In this workshop, we will explore the sophisticated polyrhythms of some traditional rhythms of Fon and Yoruba origin, such as Agbadjia, Gogbahoun, Sakpata, and Kosso, as well as their origins and fundamental architecture. We will analyze the relationships between the main rhythms and learn to recognize the solo drum's voice.

We will sing together some songs and listen to traditional stories from the FA, a comprehensive cultural archive of Indo-European, Middle Eastern, and African influences that combines tales, songs, and sophisticated moral lessons with a mathematical structure. Eric Acakpo, a passionate and diligent expert on the FA, will guide us through this enriching cultural journey.
