Germain, 45, practically illiterate, lives a quiet life among his friends at the local bar, his girlfriend Annette, the park where he goes to count pigeons, and the vegetable garden he planted behind his caravan, itself parked at the back of his mother's garden. His relationship with his mother is very strained. He never knew his father; his mother became pregnant with him unintentionally and made sure he knew it from a young age. At primary school, his teacher quickly took a dislike to him; he was never educated, he remained "uncultivated." One day, in the park, he meets Margueritte, a very old woman, a former agricultural researcher who has traveled the world and spent her life reading. She now lives alone in a retirement home. And she, too, counts pigeons. A true tenderness will develop between Germain and Margueritte, a "grandson-grandson" love story, and a genuine exchange...
