Episodes of Garrison Life in Echternach in the 19th Century
From 1843 to 1867, part of the former Abbey of Echternach served as barracks for a battalion of hunters of the Federal Contingent. Illustrated by various graphic documents, the lecture-projection will evoke the installation, the lives of officers and soldiers, the 1848 riot, maneuvers, and encounters between military and civilians. Writers like M. Z. G. Werner, Nicholas Gonner, C. M. Spoo, Dicks, or Victor Hugo have mentioned this charming operetta army ... which remained peaceful.
