Few authors have succeeded in creating a whole world and mythology through their writing. H. P. Lovecraft is one of them. Included in the Pléiade collection, his work, woven from impressive fantasy worlds, has been adapted into role-playing games, video games, films, and science fiction comics for a century.
Loosely based on one of his short stories, the story takes us to the town of Arkham in 1989. A meteorite crashes near the Gardner family farm, who watch helplessly as the surrounding nature slowly deteriorates. Disturbing phenomena multiply until one day Ammi Pierce, the Gardners' neighbor, reports their disappearance to the sheriff's office. The police investigation stalls until three years later, when Doreen Harper, a young FBI special agent, returns to the scene of the tragedy to try to solve the mystery of the “strange days.”
What happened? The fear of the unknown - and what it does to us - is at the heart of this suspenseful and disturbingly poetic investigation.
