The concept of the 'jam session' in music is well-known. A group of musicians gather together in a bar or studio for a short, improvised concert.
No polished performance, no pre-recorded tracks, just the pure pleasure of practicing an art collectively, with attentiveness, exchange, and goodwill. For the Saturday at the Theatre event on December 13th, 2025, we transpose this concept to dramatic writing. Four author-writers create four improvised texts based on a theme given to them the day before. They will have less than 24 hours to compose a fifteen-minute piece and share insights about their writing approach, before presenting their work to a curious audience at the Grand Theatre. The authors' words will be accompanied by musical improvisations.
