The Dancing Satyr of Mazara del Vallo
The Luxembourg Committee of Dante Alighieri presents:
Hidden Treasures of the Mediterranean:
THE DANCING SATYR OF MAZARA DEL VALLO
directed by Prof. Beatrice Cunsolo
Professor of Art History and restorer of Cultural Heritage.
The discovery of the Dancing Satyr of Mazara del Vallo is one of the most significant episodes in Mediterranean underwater archaeology. The recovery of this rare bronze statue, found at great depth in the Sicilian Channel, has brought back to the world a masterpiece of ancient art that has become a symbol of dialogue among Mediterranean peoples and the historical wealth preserved by the sea.
Where does it take place?
