Kids' Workshop: Imaginary Explorations - Surreal Photocollage
A synonym for dreams, imagination, and the fantastic, Surrealism is an artistic movement free of preconceived notions: Surrealist artists loved creating works overflowing with nonsense and unexpected associations.
To create such an unusual work, participants are invited to play 'exquisite corpse.' This writing or drawing game was a creative practice much appreciated by Surrealist artists to stimulate their imagination or simply for the joy of having fun.
Children will create their own surrealist photocollages from images found in magazines and other illustrated publications. Here, they're invited to let go, go beyond the notion of reality, and explore their inner world.
