An impressive system of fortifications, almost entirely gone since the Treaty of London in 1867, defended Kirchberg and protected the fortress city. The engineer Vauban, who directed the siege works in 1684, was tasked with designing a project to reinforce the fortress. The museum offers two-hour guided tours of these fortifications.
Good to know
Participants must wear appropriate clothing, sturdy shoes and bring a flashlight.
