Sewing and repairing clothes was, until the invention of the sewing machine in the mid-19th century, a purely manual task. The production of army soldiers’ uniforms was also done by hand, making the process long and costly. Therefore, clothes were repaired rather than thrown away, unlike what often happens today.
Is your favorite garment damaged? Bring it along and take part in an interactive workshop where you'll discover new mending techniques. You will also learn more about the history of sewing while patching your clothes in a decorative and appealing way so that you can use them for many more years. No prior sewing experience is necessary to attend this workshop.
