Annie Kraus and Christian von Blohn invite you to discover the Six Brandenburg Concertos by J.S. Bach.
Composed between 1718 and 1721, these concertos highlight the dynamic between soloists and orchestra, with fascinatingly diverse instrumentation, from the virtuoso trumpet of Concerto No. 2 to the innovative integration of the harpsichord as a soloist in Concerto No. 5. Dedicated to Margrave Christian Ludwig of Brandenburg-Schwedt, these works celebrate virtuosity and creativity.
More than 200 years later, composer Max Reger brought these masterpieces back to life with four-hand piano transcriptions. An admirer of Bach, Reger did not intend to replace the orchestra but to offer a new perspective, revealing the pure structure and melodic clarity of these concertos. A unique rediscovery, rich in subtlety and musical depth.
