On October 3, 2025, the day of the "Trounwiessel", His Royal Highness the Grand Duke will take the oath before the Chamber of Deputies and ascend the throne of Luxembourg. On this occasion, the Grand Duke's House has commissioned a series of official portraits to represent the Head of State in an institutional context. The exhibition, organized in collaboration with the Nationalmusée um Fëschmaart and with the support of the Chamber of Deputies and the Ministry of Culture, presents this collection to the public for the first time.

Created by Serge Ecker, Andrew Gow, Louise Pragnell, and Roland Schauls, the works on display – paintings and a bust – are part of the long-standing tradition of official portraiture. Their creation involved a network of specialized skills: frame makers, 3D scanning specialists for the bust, as well as an art foundry for the bronze work.

These portraits offer different ways of presenting the official image: as an instrument of representing the Head of State, as a marker of the beginning of a reign, or as a contribution to a particularly dynamic Luxembourg art scene.
