Curator’s Tour
Discover "Igshaan Adams: Between Then and Now" through the perspective of curator Anaël Daoud. This tour offers an in-depth introduction to Adams’ artistic universe, where textile, sculpture, and performance come together to explore questions of belonging, resilience, and care.
Moving through the exhibition, the curator will guide you across monumental tapestries woven from everyday materials—beads, chains, rope, ribbon—and into the immersive installation created from the artist’s dance prints. She will offer insight into how Adams’ personal memories, shaped by apartheid-era South Africa, inform the emotional and physical landscapes of his work, as well as the healing role of movement and communal making.
The tour will also highlight site-specific suspended sculptures and a tactile display of textile swatches from Adams’ studio, revealing the collaborative processes and sensory vocabulary at the heart of his practice. Bringing together more than sixty works spanning the past decade, "Between Then and Now" is the most extensive exhibition dedicated to the artist to date.
Join this special guided visit to deepen your understanding of the exhibition, its themes, and its making, and to encounter Adams’ work through the curatorial vision that shaped it.
