Open relationship - Théâtre
Well-known tragicomedy by Dario Fo to Franca Rame, op däitsch.
Mam Nadine to Tim Olrik STONEBERG.
The comedy “Open Couple” (Coppia aperta, quasi spalancata) by Dario Fo and Franca Rame, which belongs to the literary genre of tragicomedy, is set in Italy and premiered in November 1983.
The farce depicting married life is narrated retrospectively by Antonia, the wife, and opens with a scene in which Antonia, driven by her husband's infidelity, repeatedly attempts suicide. At the beginning of the play, the husband persuades Antonia to enter into an open relationship, initially open only to him. The wife initially tries to accept this arrangement and remains in the role of loving mother and wife. However, unable to cope, suffering and consumed by jealousy, she begins to change and sets new goals for herself. This contradicts the husband's vision of an open relationship, leading him to take his own life.
