Round table organized in collaboration with the Young Scientists Foundation as part of the performances of Aux suivante!
Have you ever heard of Rosalind Franklin or Lise Meitner? These women played a major role in essential scientific discoveries, yet the corresponding Nobel Prizes were awarded only to their male colleagues. This phenomenon, known as the Matilda effect, illustrates how women's contributions to science and research are too often overlooked.
But this erasure isn't limited to the sciences. Camille Claudel, Louise Bourgeois, Artemisia Gentileschi, the Guerrilla Girls, and Baroness Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven: all these female creators had to fight to make their voices and visions heard. Director Juliette Steiner takes these figures and uses them as material for creation and reflection.
Join us for a roundtable discussion where science and art meet. We will discuss why women's contributions to science, research, and the arts are often erased in favor of their male counterparts — and how this story continues to be written today.
