In her stories, Elise Schmit explores those dazzling moments of transition where the old dissolves but the new is not yet present. The people she depicts long for change, for a chance to escape their own lives, but are also afraid of it. Gradually, her stories form a portrait of a society searching for ways out of isolation – clear-sighted, intense, and lucid.
Elise Schmit was born in 1982 in Luxembourg and grew up there. Her book "Stürze aus unterschiedlichen Fallhöhen" received the Prix Servais in 2019 and became a bestseller in Luxembourg. Elise Schmit lives in Luxembourg City.
