The exhibition “Empty Beds” is part of the Advocacy Coalition — Defending Our Future Now project.

The exhibition sheds light on one of the most devastating realities of this war: the abduction of Ukrainian children by Russia. More than 20,000 children have been forcibly taken from Ukraine in a systematic state policy aiming to erase Ukrainian identity.

Through personal stories, “Empty Beds” brings this tragedy closer. One such story is Artem’s—a boy who dreamed of becoming an architect and rebuilding Ukraine. At age 13, he was taken to Crimea and never returned.

The installation recreates a child’s empty bedroom within the walls of European institutions, reminding us that behind every statistic there is a life, a family, and an empty bed still waiting.

This exhibition is a call to remember, to understand, and to act. We invite you to visit and learn about one of the most painful consequences of this war.
