Monodrama Festival - Vania is alive & Un jour Ngoungoure!
Vania is alive
Monolabo by Natalia Lizorkina with Janice Szczypawka
Luxembourg/Russia
Theatre in French
When her son is sent to the front, Alia does not question the legitimacy of the conflict with the neighboring country and is happy to hear from him on her phone. But she soon encounters official rhetoric where language contradicts facts. When she learns, through a series of chilling facts, that her son Vania has not been taken prisoner, nor tortured, that he is in perfect health and "absolutely alive", a simple and dangerous question arises: how to restore the truth? In a Russia where power crushes all opposition and manipulates minds, her awakening and how she protests will have tragic consequences.
Un jour Ngoungoure!

Un jour Ngoungoure! tells the unique story of Ngoungoure, a Bamoun princess who became queen-king for a day in order to restore the legitimacy of the Nchare Yen dynasty. With palace intrigues, power struggles and family tragedies, this theatrical epic, told by a single narrator, revisits history through the eyes of a strong woman whose brief reign left a lasting impression on the Bamoun kingdom.
