The Rimini Protokoll collective playfully rethinks what it means to make music: Who composes? Who plays? And on what? As part of the rainy days contemporary music festival, this performance transforms fitness equipment into musical instruments and invites visitors to interact and improvise. Songs of Push and Pull have been specially composed for this unconventional ensemble, performed by people who use these machines in their everyday workouts. In Luxembourg, individuals who may never have played a concert before use their deep body awareness, shaped through years of physical training, to create a unique sonic experience on stage. Songs of Push and Pull blurs the line between physical self-optimization and musical performance, blending exercise rhythms with elements of pop and contemporary composition.
