One is French: he first faced the pandemic before experiencing rising tensions, the radicalization of power, then the outbreak of the war on February 24, 2022. The other is Luxembourgish: he was ambassador to the Soviet Union from 1989 to 1991, a period when openness and modernization were prevailing trends. "Au cœur de la Russie en guerre" (2025) by Pierre Lévy serves as a starting point for this discussion.
