Conference – Asian Hornets – Identify, report, act
The Asian hornet is an invasive species that has spread rapidly in Europe in recent years. Unlike our native insects such as the European hornet, the Asian hornet poses a particular threat to biodiversity and can significantly impact bee populations in particular. Due to its rapid reproduction and spread, early detection and action are crucial.
In light of this development, we cordially invite you to our information conference on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 at 6:00 PM at the Centre Atert on the topic of Asian hornets.
Mr. Carsten Emser, a specialist advisor for wasps and hornets from Rhineland-Palatinate, will provide a clear explanation of the biology, lifestyle, and distribution of the Asian hornet, a hornet species originally from Asia. He will also offer practical advice on how to identify the Asian hornet, how to handle this potentially dangerous insect, and how trained personnel can professionally remove its nests. The aim of the event is to raise public awareness and facilitate a swift and effective response.
Our community actively supports you in this: We cover the costs of removing hornet nests. This makes it all the more important that nests are identified and reported early.
The conference will be held in German and will be simultaneously translated into French and English.
