While artificial intelligence is currently generating a lot of buzz, there's one area where it's far less questioned: its prescriptive role. Sometimes fully embraced (for example, when choosing a TV series or a vacation destination), this role is often completely overlooked when it comes to recommendation AI: the mechanisms that select the information we'll be exposed to on our favorite addictive platforms, from LinkedIn to TikTok and YouTube. It's on the basis of this informational diet that European citizens are then expected to make decisions that have significant consequences for themselves and, above all, for their country.

But how can we make informed decisions about our future when we entrust our ability to inform ourselves to American or Chinese multinationals? These tech giants, whose leaders have made no secret of their lack of interest in the ecological limits of our planet, also loudly proclaim their radical opposition to collective and democratic decision-making processes.

Fortunately, there are tools to help us overcome this impasse, enabling us to find the right information and to best exercise our competence to make decisions that serve the public interest.

With the participation of: Jean-Lou Fourquet, trainer and content creator on the YouTube channel Après la bière. He is also co-author of the book *The Dictatorship of Algorithms*, co-written with Lê Nguyên Hoang, which analyzes how recommendation algorithms favor divisive and sensationalist content and how we can build a recommendation system that serves the public interest.
