Interstellar fanfare, cosmic installations, immersive experiences, and activities for all ages… On October 3, Culture Night invites you to leave Earth behind for a little while and take you on a journey into a universe where UFOs rub shoulders with blast furnaces 🛸
IMMEDIATE BOARDING FOR BELVAL
Every year, we tell ourselves it couldn’t get any better. And every year, Nuit de la Culture proves that it still has more than one trick up its sleeve 🌝 In 2025, we experienced the Vertige de l’Amour 💌 This time, it’s a change of scenery and direction: head to Esch-sur-Alzette and its Université/Belval neighborhood, transformed for one night into anything but an ordinary place 🤖
The theme? OVNI - Osez Vivre de Nouveaux Imaginaires. A program (and a motto) that sets the tone: on October 3, you might just stumble upon a flying saucer, encounter strange visitors, or discover works that seem to have come from another planet 🪐 but we’ll tell you more about that a little further down!
And maybe that’s the real secret behind Nuit de la Culture: every year, it reinvents the city together with its residents, local artists, and cultural partners from all walks of life, to offer an evening that feels timeless and full of poetry. An evening we’re always just as excited to experience with the team 🫶🏻
And as always, it’s free and organized this year by frEsch asbl and supported by a whole host of local partners (City of Esch, ArcelorMittal, Agora, Sud Stroum, Stoll Trucks, City of Metz, Constellations de Metz, Fonds Belval).

#EXOTERRITOIRES / live performance and immersive experience
A performance born from a collaboration between artists, science fiction authors and researchers from CNES. With an augmented reality headset on your head, you set off on an immersive journey that takes you to explore other worlds… and radically changes the way you see our own 🌍

TOYS IN SPACE / exhibition and immersive experience
What if we sent toys into space? That's exactly what NASA did in 1985, and it's what inspired this digital and luminous exhibition, designed to spark an interest in space exploration among young and old alike 🪁

THE VISITORS / installation and visual arts
Hard to miss: a giant, colourful and slightly improbable flying saucer has landed at the foot of the Belval Blast Furnaces. As night falls, it lights up and reveals strange signs of life through its porthole… An apparition somewhere between mystery and good humour, sure to delight children and grown-up science-fiction nostalgics alike!

BATTLEDRUM GALACTICA / music and immersive experience
A mix of retro-futuristic percussion, LED masks that light up to the rhythm of the music, and a good dose of resounding drums… This troupe will roam around Belval throughout the evening and promises an experience that is as mind-blowing as it is out of this world 🥁🤪

A change of atmosphere with this more intimate performance, which explores our desire to hide, disappear for a moment and distance ourselves from prying eyes. A gentler invitation to reconnect, away from the gaze of others 🫣

This event on 3 October is, moreover, only the beginning of a wonderful cultural season, which promises to be a busy one for the end of 2026 🐭🦋🐻🐗 On 12 December, ECHOS - « Histoire de passages » will take over at Grenz: a little announcement we’re keeping warm… But everything in its time: for now, our eyes remain fixed on Belval !
