A virtual exhibition on the representation of the body through the iconographic collections of the Metz Libraries and Media Libraries
The rich collection of ancient and contemporary prints at the Metz Libraries-Media Library shows that the body has been represented in multiple ways over the centuries. Artists have taken up this subject by questioning it, sublimating it and staging it, thus becoming an object of power or desire. Through four recurring themes in our iconographic collection: anatomy, the female body, movement and portrait, we invite you to take a look at different ways of imagining and suggesting our body.
This exhibition proposed by the BMM Heritage center was presented for the first time at the Verlaine media library in January 2024 as part of the Nuits de la Lecture.
