Half-timbered buildings (in German Fachwerk) occupy a special place in the rich vocabulary of archetypes of the artist Titus Schade.

According to the artist:
"The half-timbered houses in particular were born rather from a desire to create a new subdivision of a facade in itself, from an interest in geometry, structure - perhaps even, ultimately, for the abstract ornamentation. When you have that in the image, such a construction suddenly acquires a certain presence, almost something sacred."

The workshop "Das Fach Werk" focuses on the visual and structural language of these architectures through practice. The issues are therefore twofold: on the one hand, participants are led towards questions of architectural identity and heritage, on the other hand, they are introduced to the creation of architectural models in order to explore structural and graphics of their own creations.
The models are made using manual tools and techniques and a modern material: polyurethane.
