Collections of extraterrestrial materials, polar ice and snow
Collections of extraterrestrial materials, from polar ice and snow to space missions.
The analysis of extraterrestrial matter provides us with information on the astrophysical context of the formation of our star and the evolution of its accretion disk towards its current planetary procession.
Meteorites, micrometeorites and samples brought back by recent space missions to asteroids and comets are witnesses to the beginnings of our solar system. This presentation will retrace the history of the search for extraterrestrial matter in the polar regions in connection with various current and future major space missions.
