Eun-Me Ahn - dance
After Dancing Grandmothers (2018) and Dragons (2021), South Korean choreographer Eun-Me Ahn returns to the Grand Théâtre with her new creation Koshigi Monologue. Not hesitating to tackle sensitive subjects, Eun-Me Ahn here gives voice to elderly women who confide in them about their first sexual experiences and their married life in post-war South Korea. With reserve, sometimes malice and often regret, they recount arranged marriages and social pressures. Nine dancers lend their bodies and voices to the recordings of these stories, and forcefully question, between dance and theater, the condition of women in our societies. We smile, we are indignant, we cry. We measure the progress made, but above all the road that remains to be covered.
