A true luminary of Indian music, Amjad Ali Khan is a respected master of the sarod, a plucked string instrument similar to the sitar. The Persian-origin name means "melody". The melodic inspiration and rhythmic mastery serve the ancient tradition of ragas. Coming from a long line of musicians, he perpetuates it by performing on stage alongside his two sons.
