Half a century after his death, a tribute is paid to the Russian composer, who discreetly opposed with his work, often crafting scores with audacity and political disrespect that put him in danger several times. Composed shortly after the death of a dear friend, Shostakovich's second trio is also a tribute to the victims of war and Nazi barbarism.
