The Seeds exhibition explores the challenges of diversity and questions our relationship with origins. The fascinating formal beauty of seeds, revealed by Thierry Ardouin's photographs, will be presented in an exhibition designed by Atelier EXB in collaboration with neimënster.
The seed is a marvel of appearance, a perfection of form and color. It possesses a morphology that is both necessary and bizarre, capable of arousing astonishment, questioning, or contemplation. Chosen, lit, and framed with the greatest care, the seeds photographed by Thierry Ardouin disrupt our subjectivity as spectators: they become symbols that, far from a generic image, question our relationship to origins. From the emergence of agriculture more than 10,000 years ago to the questions raised by today's hybrid seeds, including the discovery of the uses of seeds across cultures and eras, the book Histoires de graines explores the challenges of diversity. Mostly taken from the collections of the National Museum of Natural History, these wild or cultivated seeds from around the world fascinate with their formal beauty: colors, textures, shapes, appearances, they capture the eye, questioning our perceptions. Texts by Marion Chartier, Charlotte Fauve, Gilles Clément, Serge Bahuchet, José-Manuel Gonçalvès accompany Thierry Ardouin's photographic corpus.
