Regular guided tour: Viaggio in Italia
The exhibition takes us on a journey through Italy's most iconic cities and regions. Spanning four centuries and featuring works by Italian, Dutch, French, and British painters, it showcases idealized ancient landscapes, numerous vedute, and scenes of everyday urban life. Common in the paintings are the southern light, architectural elegance, charming landscapes, and the omnipresence of antiquity. Alongside views of the five mentioned cities, the exhibition includes capricci, imaginative compositions of ancient ruins within pastoral settings. Highlights include Roman squares painted by Gaspar van Wittel (1652-1736), the Venice of Canaletto (1697-1768), and the industrial city of Milan as envisioned by futurist Umberto Boccioni (1882-1916). Visitors of all ages can conclude their visit by creating their own digital collage capriccio. A painting corner and a quiz enhance the family-friendly offerings.
