Regular Guided Tour: Viaggio in Italia
The exhibition takes us on a discovery journey of Italy's most emblematic cities and regions. Spanning four centuries and involving Italian, Dutch, French, and British painters, it showcases idealized ancient landscapes, numerous vedute, and scenes of daily urban life. The artworks share southern light, elegance of architecture, charm of landscapes, and the omnipresence of antiquity. In addition to views of the five cities highlighted, there are capricci, imaginative compositions of ancient ruins in bucolic landscapes. The Roman squares painted by Gaspar van Wittel (1652-1736), Canaletto's (1697-1768) Venice, and the industrial city of Milan envisioned by futurist Umberto Boccioni (1882-1916) are highlights of the exhibition. At its conclusion, visitors of all ages can create their own capricci digital collages. A painting corner and a quiz enhance the family-friendly offerings.
