Why does Fort Thüngen survive demolition? How does landscape engineer Edouard André transform the former military site into a forest park? Identified by hygienist thought as an ideal place for rejuvenation, the site was completely redesigned in 1937 with its "Pavilion of Independence" inaugurated in 1939, animated by concerts and theatrical performances. Recognized as a tourist attraction, the site became accessible to coaches. The establishment of European institutions at the Place de l'Europe dictates a new future. The openings of the MUDAM and the Dräi Eechelen Museum and the surrounding area's redevelopment turn it into a constantly developing urban park.
