Ninja Episkopat is the hybrid offspring of the pandemic, social media, and the pervasive boredom experienced in 2021. Referred to as "The Slipknot of Polish Jazz" by some, the sound they create merges electronic, rock, contemporary, and improvisational music.
Their extensive musical experiences have produced work where subtlety and primitivism coexist. This apparent contradiction reflects the primal impulse at the heart of all jazz music.
Band members include:
Patrycja Wybrańczyk - drums,
Igor Wiśniewski - guitar,
Alex Clov - saxophone, electronics
In 2022, Ninja debuted with the EP "God Save The Queer," performing at venues across Poland (Soundrive, Jazz Jantar Festival, True Tone Festival, and others). In 2023, they released the conceptual album "All Thoughts Are Bad Thoughts" under the Audio Cave label, presented from Poland to international audiences (Czech Republic and Germany).
About the album:
The 2020s echo the 1960s, though we do not view this as a naive repetition of the Summer of Love and Flower Power. Instead, we witness the chaos of our era. Societal polarization, the ongoing climate crisis, questionable economic stability, trust in authoritarian figures, and disruptive technologies like AI all characterize this dystopian reality. This serves as the inspiration for "All Thoughts Are Bad Thoughts," a sonic confrontation reflective of contemporary times.
