A stimulating conversation between four intelligent individuals. Thus, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe aptly described the concept of a string quartet. Unhappy in his marriage, Joseph Haydn composed the 'Quatuors du Soleil' during his relative isolation in summer at Prince Nicolas Esterházy's palace. When composing the String Quintet in C-major, Franz Schubert was in the final months of his life, yet his optimism shines through nevertheless. Undoubtedly, the sound on period instruments by the Chiaroscuro Quartet will bring light and comfort to this winter evening.
