Often regarded as Ernst Lubitsch’s best silent film, "Lady Windermere’s Fan" owes its brilliance to the talents of its director as much as to Oscar Wilde, playwright of the eponymous piece it adapts. Retaining the sharp humor and satire of the British playwright, the filmmaker transposes this social comedy about appearances and marriage to the 1920s, with characters moving between domestic and social spheres. Timothy Brock, leading the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra, performs the musical accompaniment to this presentation.
