Until We Sleep, the latest hip-hop creation from London-based choreographer Botis Seva (BLKDOG, 22·23), is an energetic journey that highlights the forces of resistance.
Amidst the oppressive rulers, a lone woman yearns for faith as she leads a wandering community through a flux of different eras. In a sublime blend of percussion and guttural sounds, the music blends into an undulating style of movement performed by the dancers of Far From The Norm. Feathered costumes offer glimpses of warriors transcending their former identities, while piercing light transforms the stage into an unforgiving arena, reminding us of a higher power shaping our reality. Until We Sleep explores the weight of hope against the burden of responsibility.
