The festival opens with "The Circus", a marvelous film that elevates the art of the great Charlie Chaplin. A poet of slapstick, the character of the Tramp continues to influence countless artists. This masterpiece delves into the comedic potential of the circus, through a series of often acrobatic gags, finely executed with Chaplin's characteristic precision. While fleeing from the police, a vagabond finds himself in a circus ring, where his clumsiness delights the audience, prompting the director to hire him as a clown.
